Interview owners or teachers and ask to attend a trial class. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Learn about the teacher’s background and accreditation and find out whether the studio is more competition, performance, or recreation oriented. Check out the space and get a feel for the people who attend classes there. All of these things will help you make a well informed decision.
Get the Right Gear
If you are just heading in for a trial class, it’s probably okay to wear shorts and sneakers. However, if you plan on signing up for a class, you will need to invest in the right gear. The clothing and shoes you need will vary from one class to the next, but your instructor should let you know what to buy.
Not only will these clothes help you feel more comfortable, they will also help keep you safe by allowing the teacher to see that your form is correct and that you’re protecting your feet with the proper footwear.
Always Warm Up
Most beginner dance classes will include some wort of warm-up and cool-down session. These sessions are incredibly important for the health of your muscles.
